The Kevin Moy Online Twitter Experience Study

Today beings the in-depth study of Kevin Moy’s use of Twitter. The online social networking site that everyone thinks is all “Face” without the “Book”. I will attempt to analyze every tweet that this mysterious fellow will send out to the internet world. Fresh from the twitter-vines, I will pluck each tweet grape that K_Moy will post and squeeze every single drop of information out of it to create the best tweet grape juice concoction that you will see in the following paragraphs.

Now let us begin.

On April 22nd around 9 am, a future twit-lebrity was born from the electronic signals and mass of computer code that everyone likes to call “Twitter”. Possible urged by his curiosity and maybe peer pressure, Kevin Paul Moy decided to create a twitter account. A feat that many people, just as curious, have attempted but failed in a few weeks.

In just two days of his presence in the twitter-verse Kevin Moy’s twitter influence is already affecting how I speak. In a recent Gchat conversation with the real-life-celebrity-soon-to-be-twit-lebrity about his usage of twitter, his amazing internet influence had me jumbling up my words. In an attempt to write “sweet”, my fingers instead decided to write “tweet”. Clearly a sign that K_moy’s twit-fluence is already seeping into my everyday life.

Kevin Moy’s first tweet was similar to everyone else’s first tweet. Usually a confession of “I don’t know what I’m doing here” or a variation of “Yay! I’m on Twitter!”. K_Moy’s first tweet was of the latter kind although without the exclamation point. It seems as though Mr Moy is just dipping his toes into the metaphorical swimming pool to see how cold it is. Now too overly excited but still confident enough to stake his claim in the twitter-world with a solid statement of “I’m on Twitter”. On a personal note, I’d like to point out and commend K_Moy for his capitalization of “Twitter”. Proper grammar is important to be taken seriously on Twitter. That is, until you hit the 140 character limit, where near illegible words are acceptable.

The next few tweets by K_Moy proved to me that he is learning quickly and picking up the proper Twitter etiquette and techniques. In his first day, he knew about alternative posting methods (texting), proper usage of @ replies and recognition, proper usage of @ replies to insult a fellow Twitter user. An impressive use of Twitter that a normal Twitter user would have only picked up after a few days. A definite sign that K_Moy will become a power user.

Although Kevin Moy did have some impressive Twitter-Kung-Fu, he still had some downfalls. As with all Twitter users, the mundane post about his life were still there. Mainly his post that only stated “hot sausage”. This boring out of context tweet could have been remedied by a few words that would have explained the situation. For example, “I like to eat hot sausage”, “Damn, this hot sausage is good”, or “I like hot sausage in, or around, my mouth”. Providing further context could have greatly improved his reader satisfaction. Especially the last one.

Overall, I believe that K_Moy has great potential of becoming a great twitter user and possible achieve the most coveted status of “twit-lebrity”. He has much to learn but I look forward to studying his Twitter stream further.
